Yunnan as a Distinctive Tea Growing Region

Over the past 20 years, we have explored a wide range of tea-producing regions, and we believe Yunnan is unmatched in its natural conditions for tea cultivation.
In the mountainous areas of Lincang, at around 2000m above sea level, tea gardens are grown naturally, without any fertilizers or pesticides.
In places like Yongde and Zhenkang, where we source our teas, many of the tea trees are already a few hundred years old, with some even over 300 years. It’s incredibly rare to find this kind of environment and heritage anywhere else.
These special growing conditions cause the tea trees to grow slowly, giving the leaves more time to mature naturally. As they develop, the leaves become denser and gradually absorb more minerals and polyphenols.
This results in a rich, flavourful tea with a long-lasting aftertaste that lingers on the palate.

Bringing Out More from Yunnan’s Excellent Raw Material

Yunnan is blessed with outstanding tea-growing conditions, but due to relatively less-developed processing techniques, the variety of teas typically produced there is still quite limited.
To fully tap into the potential of these high-quality leaves, we’ve been working closely with local tea makers, experimenting with new approaches to expand the range of teas made in the region.
One result of these efforts is our Yunnan Chun Jian Green Tea, made using tea leaves that would normally be processed as raw pu-erh or white tea. We intentionally produced it as a green tea. The result is a tea with rich depth, smooth character, and a surprisingly long-lasting impression that goes beyond the conventional green tea.

Nutty and Floral Notes with a Deep Finish

We use one bud and two leaves, hand-plucked in early April.
It’s grown at 2100m above sea level in Zhenkang County, Lincang, an area known for its high mountain environment and naturally grown tea gardens.
The tea is fried over firewood, giving it a character that gently reminds one of Long Jing, but with its own unique twist – soft notes of nuts and flowers that come through in every sip.
What truly sets this tea apart is its remarkably long and lasting finish, a clear reflection of the abundant minerals and polyphenols stored within the leaves.
If you’re familiar with Chinese green teas, this one’s sure to stand out — smooth, with a clean yet lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression. It’s the kind of tea you’ll want to enjoy daily, sip by sip.

As mentioned earlier, many tea gardens in Yunnan are located in remote mountain areas, allowing us to offer this tea at a modest price despite its quality.
It also makes a refreshing cold brew. Simply steep a few grams in cold water and refrigerate overnight for a clean and flavourful drink that is perfect for warm days.
